Asaduddin Owaisi Attempts to Entangle Muslims in Legal Cases Through Worker Shahbaz Ahmed Khan
New Delhi (News Report: Matiur Rahman Aziz) – As a journalist, I am fully aware of the fact that the Heera Group of Companies enjoyed nearly 25 years of prosperity along with its investors. However, fearing the economic prosperity of Muslims and apprehensive that his interest-based business would suffer losses, Hyderabad Member of Parliament Asaduddin Owaisi launched a campaign against the company—widely regarded as a guarantor of the Muslim economy—in 2008. Initially, intimidation and fear were used as tools, but when this strategy failed, Owaisi filed a case against the Heera Group of Companies in 2012 based merely on suspicion. The company was subjected to an extremely difficult phase of legal scrutiny and investigation. Eventually, Asaduddin Owaisi himself faced a humiliating defeat in the very case he had filed, and the Heera Group of Companies emerged victorious. Following this defeat, a ₹100 crore defamation case for damaging the reputation and business of the Heera Group became a noose around Owaisi’s neck. In order to escape this predicament, Owaisi employed every possible tactic and adopted a new method to attack the company, which was considered a support system for the Muslim economy as well as for orphans, widows, the poor, and the helpless. He deployed his notorious party worker, Shahbaz Ahmed Khan, against the Heera Group to provoke and mislead investors and to encourage the filing of false cases against the company. The infamous Shahbaz Ahmed Khan of AIMIM crossed all limits and took upon himself a ₹10 crore defamation case in return for defaming and damaging the company.
In short, today Asaduddin Owaisi and his agent Shahbaz Ahmed Khan are making every possible effort to sacrifice the community in order to rid themselves of defamation cases. For this purpose, AIMIM’s Shahbaz Ahmed Khan, with the cooperation and support of MP Asaduddin Owaisi, is traveling across the country offering free legal assistance to file cases against the company. The people of the country should know how those who spread false propaganda of “community” and “Muslim unity” are inflicting deep damage on the Muslim economy and poor Muslims. The current situation is such that a company which completed a 25-year journey of prosperity, paid hundreds of crores in income tax every year, and provided employment to over 172,000 people is being relentlessly targeted by selfish and sick-minded individuals. One must ask—who can such people truly be well-wishers of? In 2008, Hyderabad MP and President of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), Asaduddin Owaisi, raised his voice against the Heera Group. Initially, threats and intimidation were used, but when that failed, in 2012 Owaisi lodged FIR No. 154/2012 at the Central Crime Station Police Station in Hyderabad. This FIR was filed on the basis of a newspaper advertisement. The company had to endure intense legal and investigative processes. Investigative agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted raids, seized documents, and carried out strict scrutiny of the company’s activities. However, after four years of rigorous investigation (2012–2016), the Heera Group won the case due to its strong evidence and transparent foundations. Owaisi faced a humiliating defeat, and the court dismissed the allegations.
After this defeat, the company’s CEO, Dr. Nowhera Shaikh, filed a ₹100 crore defamation case against Owaisi, alleging that false accusations had damaged the company’s reputation and caused financial losses. This case is still pending in court. Following this setback, Owaisi adopted a new strategy and assigned his party worker Shahbaz Ahmed Khan to pursue the Heera Group. Shahbaz, an AIMIM member who calls himself a social worker, traveled across the country inciting investors, offering free legal assistance, and encouraging them to file FIRs against the company. He misled investors by telling them, “File an FIR and you will get your money back.” Under this strategy, more than 200 complaints were filed under Shahbaz’s leadership in 2018, resulting in the arrest of Dr. Nowhera Shaikh and the shutdown of the company’s operations. AIMIM’s Shahbaz included fake investors to initiate cases, which led to attempts to seize the company’s properties.
Shahbaz Ahmed Khan himself is a controversial figure. Dr. Nowhera Shaikh had filed a sexual harassment case against him in 2010, and he is now facing a ₹10 crore defamation case. Owaisi and Shahbaz are allegedly sacrificing the community to save themselves from legal trouble and are harming Muslim economic prosperity. Supporters of the Heera Group claim that all of this is driven by political rivalry, as Dr. Nowhera Shaikh founded the All India Mahila Empowerment Party (AIMEP) in 2017, which emerged as a challenge to Owaisi.
The Heera Group claims it was a legitimate business offering 36% annual returns. After Dr. Nowhera Shaikh’s arrest in 2018, the ED froze 96 properties and 240 bank accounts of the company, reportedly worth around ₹3,000 crore. Supporters state that despite 15 years of investigation, no concrete evidence has been found, and even after eight years, charge sheets have not been filed in many of the 30 cases. The ED has begun auctioning some properties, yet investors have not received refunds. Today, a company that paid taxes to the country for 25 years and provided employment to thousands is facing crisis due to selfishness and political enmity. Owaisi and his associates are unable to tolerate Muslim economic progress and are further weakening poor Muslims by entangling them in legal cases. According to several sources, the community must recognize the truth about those who chant the slogan of “Muslim unity” while damaging the Muslim economy. If such efforts continue, one must question whose well-wishers they truly are.
