Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) proudly commemorated International Women’s Day with a remarkable series of events, highlighting the strength, resilience, and achievements of women from all walks of life. The festivities commenced with a collaborative blood donation camp alongside Aaims, New Delhi, on March 4th, 2024, under the theme "NARI SE NADI TAK” (From Womanhood to Riverhood). The event witnessed an overwhelming response from donors, embodying the spirit of solidarity and altruism.
Continuing the celebration, on March 6th, 2024, IGNOU hosted a captivating cultural program and art exhibition, where individuals across the university’s diverse spectrum showcased their artistic talents and performances. The auditorium reverberated with joy and enthusiasm, fostering a vibrant atmosphere of appreciation and camaraderie. March 7th, 2024, marked the day of the "SILKATHON” – a friendly marathon organized to exemplify ‘Nari Shakti Viksit Bharat ke Pragiti Path’ (The Progression of Women Empowerment in Developed India). Decked in traditional Indian attire, participants, both men in kurta pyjama and women in silk sarees, gathered in large numbers to demonstrate their support for women’s empowerment through physical activity and cultural expression. In addition to the engaging events, IGNOU released a groundbreaking podcast series on women’s empowerment, featuring episodes by renowned speakers from around the globe. Furthermore, the university unveiled a handbook on Prevention of Sexual Harassment at the Workplace, available in both Audiobook and E-book formats in various regional languages, reaffirming its commitment to creating safe and inclusive environments for all. All these events were organised by the Committee of Sexual Harassment (CASH). Reflecting on the significance of the day, a spokesperson for IGNOU stated, "Today, we celebrate the power and potential of women everywhere.
